OPTIMAL Olefins (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. is a subsidiary of Petronaswhile OPTIMAL Glycols (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. and OPTIMAL Chemicals (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. are the wholly owned subsidiary of Petronas.
The OPTIMAL Group of Companies produce a wide range of petrochemical products from basic feedstock of Ethylene and Propylene, to intermediate products like Ethylene Oxide, Ethylene Glycol, Butanoland various Ethylene Oxide Derivatives as well as basic and high performance chemicals.
In total, the group manufactures and supplies more than 15 different petrochemical product families and over 70 products to its customers in Malaysia and around the Asia Pacific region, including to other petrochemical plants located within the PETRONAS Petroleum Industry Complex.

Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
- Acts as a Subject Matter Expert in Analytical Instrument and DCS/PLC/Safety System.
- Provides in depth analysis and evaluate on equipment problems or failure, and recommends solutions to Root Cause Analysis of the problem.
- Provides technical expertise to plant personnel on troubleshooting failures, work processes, test methods, best maintenance practices and repair procedures to ensure high integrity and reliability of the equipment/system.
- Develops equipment improvement ideas or best maintenance practices, and issues reports with recommended improvements for approval and implementation.
- Reviews Job Packages and repair reports for completeness and recommends any additional action items necessary. For critical equipment ensures that details input is included such as Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) document, detail procedures and OPTIMAL standard so that high engineering standard is maintained.
- Reviews equipment specifications and identifies the quantity of spare parts to be stored or purchased and test equipment required to ensure high equipment availability.
- Supports in reviewing Plant Preventive Maintenance (PPM) activity and in recommending PPM frequency to ensure high equipment reliability.
- Provide technical support for Plant Turnaround activities.
- Interfaces with production, engineering, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), vendors and other outside technical sources to ensure a safe, reliable and a most effective equipment/system.
- Is the plant contact and represent the plant in technology groups and meetings, and has to keep up to date on the latest technology and best maintenance practices.
- Assists in technicians training development and ensure to keep technicians up to date with most effective technology and best maintenance practices.
- Provide technical support for Plant Technical Services (PTS) Project.

- Possess degree in relevant engineering disciplines from a recognized university with minimum 3 years of working experience in the Instrument/Analyzeror Control System. Preferably degree in Electrical Instrumentation engineering.
- Possess knowledge in Oil and Gas Engineering Standard and Best Practice.
- Possess knowledge in Electronic Communications and Logic Programming.
- Able to read Engineering Drawings and P&ID.
