Sarawak’s State Legislative Assembly, the oldest legislature in Malaysia, was established after its first inaugural meeting at Bintulu on 8th September 1867. Its first 21-member Sarawak General Council, headed by Rajah Charles Brooke, consisted of six of Brooke’s officers and 16 local community leaders. In 1903, the General Council was renamed Council Negri.

In 1941, Brooke’s son, Vyner, established a written constitution known as the Constitution Order in Council during the 100th anniversary celebration of the Brookes’ rule in Sarawak. As a result, the Council Negri membership numbers were increased to 24. Instead of Vyner Brookes (in his role as Rajah) the Chief Secretary was appointed to preside over the Council Negri.

In 1963, the Council Negri’s membership increased to 42. Since then, it rose incrementally to 48 in 1968, 56 in 1989, 62 in 1996 and 71 in 2006. In 1976, the Council Negri was renamed the Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN).

Majlis Daerah Lenggong or Lenggong District Council was set up on 1 December 1979. Initially, the administrative area was 9,590 hectares with population of approximately 17,000. Lenggong town is an administrative centre situated in the centre of the area i.e. 62 km north of the Royal Town Kuala Kangsar and 57 km south of Gerik that is the Administrative Centre for Hulu Perak District. Lenggong District Council covers 10 areas: Ayer Kala, Selat Pagar, Padang Grus, Rancangan Perumahan Awam Gua Badak, Rancangan Perumahan Awam Gelok, Pekan Lenggong, Kg. Kota Tampan, Taman Kota Tampan, Pekan Raban and Pekan Kuak. The area is 60.8 sq km, with the operation area of 3 sq km and control area of 57.8 sq km.

Applications are invited from qualified Malaysian citizens to fill following positions:

1. PEKERJA SAMBILAN HARIAN N17

Requirement:
a) A Malaysian, aged 18 years and above.
b) Not included in the category of public officers as defined in the Rules of the Public Officers (Appointment, Promotion and Termination of Employment) 2005 or the regulations in force Alin;
c) Holds a Certificate of Education or equivalent qualification;
d) able to speak and communicate in Bahasa Malaysia. Ability to communicate in languages ??other than English is most welcome.

Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia (KKM) or Health services in the country’s history began even before independence. Jabatan Kemajuan Masyarakat or more synonymous among the general public as KEMAS is an extension of the Adult Education Division was established in 1961, through a cabinet paper Bil.385/25/60 focusing on the "Eradication of Illiteracy".

By 1977, the movement to eradicate illiteracy have been enhanced with the introduction of the concept of "Functional Literacy" by UNESCO as an attempt to make the movement to eradicate poverty as one of the strategies to develop rural communities.

Following the launch of the "New Economic Policy" (1970), the Division has changed its name to "Community Development Division" (KEMAS) with an emphasis on community development efforts in the true sense.

History KEMAS

KEMAS, Community Development Department is known by the name (KEMAS), which is an abbreviation of 'Community Development'. KEMAS was originally known by the name of the Adult Education Division. It was officially established by the Honorable Tun Abdul Razak bin Hussein in 1961 through a ceremony held at the Federal House. Rationale for the establishment of the Adult Education Division at that time created after the country achieved independence in 1957 in which a survey was done in the same year and found a total of 1,868,948 adults and 2,379,213 children between the ages of 10 to 14 years do not know how to read and write .
